This lighthouse counted cross stitch pattern entitled Cape Hatteras Lighthouse shows the famous lighthouse in its characteristic black and white swirling stripes and red base.  Built in 1803, it was later replaced in 1870 with what you see now.  It was named after the Hatteras Indian tribe that lived in the area,  The lighthouse is also known for its turbulent waters, and many a ship that ventured too close to the lighthouse often risked peril.  Nevertheless, Cape Hatteras still manages to attract sightseers even though it is located in a high risk area known for hurricanes and tropical storms.  But on days when there are clear skies, the weather is balmy and the atmosphere is tranquil with beautiful beaches, fishing and other water sports.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used in our patterns. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect. Only full cross stitches are used in our designs.
