This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Louise-Marie d'Orleans designed from a painting by Nicaise de Keyser, shows Louise-Marie as the first Queen of the Belgians and wife to King Leopold I.  She was born in Palermo, Italy, and was the daughter of the French King Louis Philippe I.   The purpose of her marriage to Leopold was to strengthen ties between Belgium and France.  Although shy by nature, the queen became a valuable consort to her husband, was known for her charitable works, and later became quite proficient and prominent in the lace-making industry.  She died young at the age of 38 of tuberculosis.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
