This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Hay Wain designed from a painting by John Constable shows a beautiful landscape with a horse-drawn cart loaded with hay that is moving through shallow water and proceeding past Willy Lott's cottage (a local farmer). The scene takes place on the River Stour in England. The property to the right is owned by the artist's father (Golding Constable). It appears to be a beautiful sunny day with the small possible threat of an afternoon shower judging from the thundercloud overhead. This is a celebration of the beauty of nature and the sublime of this rural setting that takes us back to simpler times. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
