This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Romulus and Remus Given Shelter by Faustulus designed from a painting by Pietro da Cortona shows a shepherd named Faustulus rescuing abandoned siblings Romulus and Remus in the wilderness and taking them home to his wife to help raise them. The sky is a deep blue with clouds moving just as swiftly as the wind, and Faustulus is rushing to get the boys under the safety of the thatched roof home for protection from the weather. When the boys grew up they became the cofounders of the great city of Rome. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
