This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Cornfield designed from a painting by John Constable shows a Romantic style of painting with a meandering lane leading to an open cornfield in the countryside. The tall trees stand like sentries guarding what's beyond, and there is an explosion of many shades of green, gold and brown which are earthly colors that signify a lushness uncommonly seen. The scene is bucolic, nostalgic and provides a taste of tranquility. The sky above is full of layers of puffy clouds with hints of gray/blue to add to the drama. It's atmospheric ecstasy and one must wonder what it would be like to lie in the field or on a hill looking up at such a wondrous sky. This would make a spectacular rural finished piece! Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
