Mount Greylock is credited as being the highest natural point in the State of Massachusetts and sits at a height of 3,489 feet up. Near Greylock stands a tower called the Massachusetts Veterans War Memorial Tower which soars to 93 feet in the air.  In 1898, the Mount Greylock State Reservation was created to provide the first public land for the purpose of forest preservation.
