This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Birth of Venus designed from a painting by Alexandre Cabanel shows Venus in a sleepy relaxed posture coming into being while she reclines in a clamshell on top of the ocean.  While she is reclining, a small group of cherubs hover over her body admiring and protecting her.  Innocence is portrayed here twofold by the use of light colors and the fact that she is shielding her eyes which are possibly closed.  Her long brown hair is seen tumbling from her head and trailing near her abdomen as she rests.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
