This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled A Boat Passing a Lock designed from a painting by John Constable shows an old boat waiting to head upstream. A man is seen at the lower gate of Flatford Lock in the process of opening one of 13 locks on the River Stour waterway to clear the way for the boat. It's a lovely summer day with a little breeze in the air. The clouds are moving swiftly as we can see moments of blue sky peeking through. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
