This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Luccombe Chine, Isle of Wight by Jasper Francis Cropsey shows a lovely wooded ravine which had been created by stream erosion.  Such a ravine is called a "chine."  In the past, a small community of fisherman made a home at the base of the chine, but the community no longer exists due to a landslide and further erosion.  At least we have this beautiful rendition of how the area used to look before it was destroyed.  No blended colors are used in our patterns.  We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.  Only full cross stitches are used in our designs.
