This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Vanity designed from a painting by Frank Cadogan Cowper shows the portrait of a beautiful woman who knows she is beautiful almost to a fault. She is wearing the richest of silks and embroidery with embellishments galore and pearls to accentuate the courtly style of attire. Her lips are carmine which match the tint of her headdress and her cheeks flush with the knowledge that she is being noticed. The rich tapestry of color on which she rests her hand is heavily embroidered with silk and satin threading on luxurious material. But the artist cautions us about dwelling too much on self-regard to the point where we ignore the needs of others. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
