This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Half-Way House designed from a painting by George Henry Durrie shows a winter scene with a man riding in a horse-driven sleigh away from a tavern or inn he has probably visited (the large yellow three-story building in the background). Just ahead of him is a frozen stream he must cross, and farm animals can be seen inside barns getting some fresh air. The trees are bearing up in the winter winds, and the sky looks like a winter sky bleak with areas of blue and gray and mixed with cream-colored clouds. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
