This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Palace of Fine Arts and the Lagoon designed from a painting by Edwin Deakin shows a palace stunningly beautiful in its intentional ruined state, a palace designed by Bernard Maybeck who borrowed Roman and Greek style architecture to create this masterpiece.  The palace has a feeling of solemnity or sadness with the theme that grandeur is fleeting driven by personal desires.  From the stillness of the water that is reflecting beauty at every angle to the soft lush plants filling in places in need of natural adornment, this is a place of sanctuary, and it is amazing that it has lasted since 1915 when it was built.  A group of birds rise from the center of the pool with breathtaking ascension.  What a glorious pattern to stitch if you like old world architecture!  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
