This fine art counted cross stitch pattern, entitled Blue Morpho Butterfly, designed from a painting by Martin Johnson Head,e shows the iridescent blue wings of the Blue Morpho Butterfly perched on a vine in a rainforest. This butterfly is not considered an endangered species and is found in the tropical rainforests of Brazil, South America, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Venezuela. It is one of the largest butterflies with a wingspan of 5 to 8 inches across, and is considered to be one of the most beautiful butterflies in the world. It uses its iridescent wings as a defense mechanism to ward off predators. Some of them also have eye spots on the border of their wings, which also act as a deterrent for predators. The artist has captured a beautiful portrait of this butterfly. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
