This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern, entitled 'Nymphs Listening to the Song of Orpheus,' is designed from a painting by Charles-François Jalabert. It depicts Orpheus, the poet of ancient Thrace, entertaining nymphs as they sit by a cool stream in a clearing in the woods. The nymphs are dressed in soft, flowing gowns in light pastels. They seem to be captivated by the charm of the poet, and he has their full attention as if they are entranced. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
