Fine Art Cross Stitch Pattern | The Children of the Duc de Bouillon
This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Children of the Duc de Bouillon designed from a painting by Francois Hubert Drouais shows two young children of noble birth dressed in Montagnard (mountain dweller) costumes and one is holding a marmot while the other is playing a hurdy-gurdy.  This artwork was done by the artist in Rococo fashion during a time when aristocratic children were portrayed as people of Italy who lived in the mountains in pastoral settings.  The clothes worn in the scene were opposite of their usual formal attire.  Duc de Bouillon, the father of the children, commissioned the painting himself.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
