This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled The Valkyrie's Vigil, designed from a painting by Edward Hughes, shows, according to Norse mythology, a warrior goddess appointed for the task of choosing slain warriors to be transported to Valhalla (an afterlife hall for slain warriors who have died heroically in battle). She is barefoot, wearing a sheer blue gown, and her skin seems to glow with effervescence under the moonlight. She is holding a helmet and sword tucked under her arm, and with a saddened, sorrowful look on her face, she handles her duties. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
