This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled On the St. Annes, East Canada designed from a painting by Robert S. Duncanson shows a spectacular landscape with a fast-moving river and rapids moving swiftly over the rocks.  The vegetation on either side is full of color with vibrant hues and intricate detail of the plants and trees.  The blue fair sky with beaming clouds complement scenery by highlighting the splashes of autumn colors. The artist is an extraordinary landscape painter who was influenced by great artists like Thomas Cole who was renowned in this field.   Of importance to mention is that the artist was biracial (of European and African descent), and he used his paintings to appeal to the abolitionist movement and to protest against pro-slavery groups.  When he included men and women in his paintings, they were of different hues interacting with each other in peace and harmony which indeed is the ideal.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
