This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled A View Near Tivoli designed from a painting by Thomas Cole shows the beauty of the ancient ruins of a Roman aqueduct and its decline over time along with its successful attempts to blend in with nature. It also represents the rise and fall of a glorious empire that no longer exists. This scene takes place in the mountains during early morning hours when steam is rising from the ground and the grass and brush are thick with glistening dew. The lighting is very dramatic with a sky bathed in white light on the left and slowly transforming with darker grayer clouds on the opposite side over the ruins. The artist has a knack for demonstrating most artfully strong variations of lighting in his artwork. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
