This fine art counted cross stitch pattern, entitled Black Bashi-Bazouk, designed from a painting by Jean-Leon Gerome shows a portrait of a soldier in the Ottoman Empire dressed in full uniform. Notice how the artist has captured the detail and workmanship in the soldier's headdress, and he managed to capture the detail of the embroidery and the sheen on the fabric of the uniform. The artist had an interest in many cultures and ethnicities, and he replicated the beauty of each in his paintings creating a masterpiece worthy to be stitched! Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
