This fine art counted cross stitch pattern, entitled Venus and Adonis, designed from a painting by Abraham Janssens, captures the moment in Greek mythology where the goddess Venus is in the arms of Adonis, engaged in an embrace, where she is trying to stop him from leaving, as the story will end in tragedy where Adonis will be killed by a wild boar. In this scene, they are surrounded by love symbolized by the cherubs on the right. The hounds that Adonis hunts with are pictured on the left. The couple is pictured under the shady branches of a tree, madly in love with each other. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
