This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Ulysees and the Sirens designed from a painting by Herbert James Draper shows Ulysees tied to the mast of his own ship while he and his men who are encountering sirens that resemble mermaids. The sirens are singing their dangerous tunes and trying to board the ship (which is when their flipper tails disappear and become legs). Some of the men are able to avoid the sound of the sirens and have plugged their ears with beeswax. The scene is full of action as the men are frightened by the sirens and their ability to immobilize men out to sea and put them in a trance of fear and dread. When you look at the scene, you can almost see the ship rocking under the dramatic skies with wind and an impending storm. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
