This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Miranda designed from a painting by Thomas Francis Dicksee shows what the artist sees as the ideal of feminine beauty and is based on a Shakespearean play called The Tempest where the heroine has been banished to live on an island away from society and her father. She wears a necklace of seashells around her neck to tie her to the ocean and a loose fitting white blouson dress with a wrap that is blowing in the wind over her waist-length tresses. Her feet are poised on the smoothness of the rocks beneath her, and her hand is resting on a giant slab suitable for sitting on and taking a rest. Seagulls can be seen flying over the ocean in the distance. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
