People often wore such elaborate costumes to attend costume balls. The woman is posing outdoors on a veranda for her portrait wearing a red dress, a silver silk cravat-type vest and necktie, sleeves trimmed in lace and a black hat topped with plumes of white feathers. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
