This counted cross-stitch pattern entitled A Rocky Cliff designed from a painting by Josephine Bowes shows a towering, sun-drenched stone formation rising dramatically over a quiet, sandy beach line while a lone figure explores the rocky tide pools below. In creating this piece, the artist wanted to capture the rugged, untamed beauty of a coastal landscape, finding inspiration in the bold textures of weathered stone and the bright clarity of a coastal afternoon. The visual palette is a wonderful collection of warm golden ochres, earthy sand browns, and deep mineral grays, all beautifully contrasted against the crisp sky blues and gentle turquoise of the sea. The scene captures the majestic charm of a remote shoreline, where the sweeping clouds and imposing cliffs create a feeling of pure, natural wonder.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
