This fine art counted cross stitch pattern, entitled The Girl I Left Behind Me, designed from a painting by Johnathan Eastman Johnson, shows a girl or young woman standing on an elevated surface, windswept, posing with a book, her hair and clothing blown by the wind. On her hand is a wedding ring. The image depicts this scene during the Civil War, with a soldier reflecting on the girl he left behind. The artist has demonstrated great skill in depicting the movement of air, and the colors and tones used here, which are earthy, are very comforting and soothing to view, and would complement many decor settings. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
