This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled A Cavalier in Green Holding a Sword by Alex de Andreis shows a very debonair handsome man stylishly dressed in green finery with a white lace cravat and a hat that was characteristically worn by men of stature in the 17th century. He has a look of confidence as he stares back with those simmering eyes, and confidence is a very positive trait most women find attractive in a man and this cavalier flaunts it well. Cavaliers were men who trained in the duties of arms and horsemanship. In fact, they were considered to be knights or gentlemen schooled in chivalry who served on horseback. The term "Cavalier" came from the swashbuckling Royalists of Charles I who believed in the divine right of kings. The term "Cavalier" also has both positive and negative connotations. While on one hand they were seen as suave, sophisticated genteel men rescuing damsels in distress, on the other hand, they were seen by some as haughty and arrogant men who engaged in thoughtless actions with women. Since I am a romantic at heart, I am hoping this particular gentleman has done no such thing because he is indeed very attractive and charming, and I would hate to think he would be involved in the latter with the fairer sex. Anyway, his likeness will be gracing the walls of my library where I will fondly gaze at his likeness on occasion. No blended colors are used in our patterns. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect. Only full cross stitches are used in our designs.
