This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Chapultecpec Castle designed from a painting by Robert S. Duncanson shows his painting style with a strong horizontal line stretching across the landscape which is a strong indication of the artist being influenced by the teachings of the Hudson River School of Painting. The large graceful pines in the forefront grab our attention as to their texture which is feathery yet heavy in weight of each branch. The tropical-like trees in the distance also catch our attention as they stand out against the skyline and mountain range, and there is an amazing untamed beauty of the wilderness. If you look closely, you can see the castle behind an overgrowth of trees in the distance. Figures dressed in bright colors can be seen near a dirt road. This happens to be one of my favorite Duncanson paintings, and I will place it on my list of future patterns to stitch. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
