This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Madonna of the Meadow designed from a painting by Raffaello Sanzio shows the Virgin Mary looking down lovingly at the infant Jesus and John the Baptist in a peaceful field. You can almost catch the sweet scent of wild poppies drifting through the morning air while a soft sunlight shines on the hills. The sky is shown in different shades of blue with the parting of clouds from left to right just overhead. The colors worn by the Virgin Mary are strikingly bold and refreshing, and they really stand out against the earth tones of the hillside. Of note is Mary's gentle pose as she looks on affectionately at the two toddlers becoming fast friends. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
