This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Betws-y-Coed designed from a painting by Sidney Richard Percy shows a flock of sheep being guided along a winding mountain path as the sun begins to set over the rolling Welsh hills. In creating this, Percy no doubt wanted to capture the pastoral stillness of the countryside, finding beauty in the soft glow of the late afternoon sky. As seen in this pattern, the palette is a mix of warm ambers and deep forest greens, browns, taupe, and lavender. The scenery captures the scent of damp earth and the quiet chill of the approaching evening. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
