This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled A Summer Afternoon designed from a painting by Asher Brown Durand shows the gorgeous glow of the afternoon sun setting slowly over the water and trees painting each branch with a blaze of color.  The sky above the sun is a lovely shade of deep aqua graced by the clouds in gray as well as those that are ecru in color as they are closer to the sun.  Cattle are seen grazing lazily near the lake and inland to seek shelter in the shade.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
