This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Amy Robsart designed from a painting by Thomas Francis Dicksee shows a formal portrait of a beautiful woman who was found dead in the year of 1560 at the bottom of her staircase with a broken neck. She was married to Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, and there was suspicion that he may have had something to do with her death. Some people feel he had something to do with it in order to clear the way for his marriage to Queen Elizabeth I. The artist painted this picture of her because he felt bad about the tragedy and probably mused over the lost potential in what she could have become had she lived. This is such a tragic end for such a beautiful woman. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
