This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Margaret Kemble Gage designed from a painting in 1771 by John Singleton Copley shows a formal portrait Margaret Gage dressed in a Turkish costume which was a popular form of dress during that time. She is the wife General Thomas Gage who was the commander-in-chief of the British forces. This portrait was created during the approach of the American Revolutionary War, and the expression on her face reflects a quiet reserve during uncertain times as she poses on the large leather divan. Her dress is light carmine in color and trimmed in gold, and she wears a turban on her head. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we only use an abundance of solid colors to produce a more realistic effect.
