This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Anna Hillmayer designed from a painting by Joseph Karl Stieler shows Anna who was a Munich woman born in 1812 to a local game meat dealer, who is best known for having her portrait painted in 1829 by the artist Joseph Karl Stieler. Her portrait was commissioned by King Ludwig I of Bavaria to be included in his famous Gallery of Beauties (Schönheitengalerie) at Nymphenburg Palace, a collection celebrating women noted for their beauty regardless of social class. In the painting, seventeen-year-old Anna is depicted in traditional Munich attire holding a small prayer book. She lived in Munich throughout her life and died unmarried in 1847.
