This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled At the Golden Gate designed from a painting by Valentine Cameron Prinsep shows a woman leaning against massive golden doors. She is wrapped in burnt orange sari-like attire and is wearing sandals. Her hands are folded in front of her. The heavy doors she is leaning against are decorated with geometric Islamic patterns. A lamp and cup are noted on the floor. It is thought that the artwork represents a sultana barred from a tyrant's inner sanctum who is behind the closed doors. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
