This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Auguste Strobl, was designed from a painting by Joseph Karl Stieler.  Auguste Strobl was a Bavarian beauty born in 1807 to a royal chief accountant. King Ludwig I of Bavaria noticed her at age twenty and had court painter Joseph Karl Stieler paint her portrait for his famous Gallery of Beauties at Nymphenburg Palace. In 1831, she married forest service applicant Anton Norbert Hilber with the support of the king and raised five children. Her famous portrait became one of the most popular and widely reproduced pieces from the royal collection.  This portraiture shows a charming young woman with coiled dark curls and fresh pink roses in her hair, wearing a luminous white gown with a blue ribbon waist belt. In my opinion, she is one of the most beautiful women in the collection, and she is certainly worthy of stitching.  Our patterns use only full cross stitches. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
