This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Charlotte designed from a painting by Thomas Gainsborough shows Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III, posing for a formal portrait in all her finery with an exquisite gown in white, ecru, and gold adorned with precious jewels.  She was born in 1744.  Her title was not only "Queen," but she was considered to be a queen consort, which gave her permission to act in the absence of the King if for whatever reason he was not able to fulfill his duties.  What makes Queen Charlotte so special is the fact that she was a woman of color with African ancestry.  This very picture of her hangs on a wall at Windsor Castle to this day.  If you want to stitch a significant piece of royal history, this would be a gorgeous project to stitch.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
