Hermann David Salomon Corrodi built a career on two very different worlds, the Italy he came from and the East he painted, and both carry over into counted cross stitch without losing their shape.
Corrodi was an Italian painter, born in 1844 and died in 1905, known for landscapes and for orientalist subjects. His work moves between Roman ground and the eastern Mediterranean, from the Forum Romanum in 1868 and the coastal Astura Tower to the banks of the Nile and a line of monks climbing toward the mountain monastery at Athos. Those are the pictures that kept his name in circulation, and they are still the ones reproduced most often.
Other nineteenth-century painters: Cornelis Springer and Johannes Bosboom.
If it is the painting itself you love rather than the stitching, Hermann David Salomon Corrodi art prints are easy to find.
