This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Feeding the Swans designed from a painting by Philip Richard Morris shows an elegant young woman and a small girl in a pink dress standing at the edge of a tranquil pond to feed a group of graceful white swans. In creating this piece, Morris wanted to emphasize the serene beauty of a private estate garden and the gentle, refined leisure activities of the Victorian upper class. The visual palette is a sophisticated blend of sun-dappled yellows and creamy whites in the woman's gown, set against the deep, shadowy greens of the dense woodland backdrop and the reflective, murky tones of the water. The scene captures the heavy silence of a secluded garden, where the only sound is the soft splashing of water and the rustle of a summer breeze through the trees.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
