This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled Island of the Dead designed from a painting by Arnold Bocklin that comes from a dream the artist had.  The scene shows a figure cloaked in white on a boat that is approaching the island where the dead go.  The scene creates a very powerful statement in that it represents the fact that death cannot be avoided and it is something we have in common and must go through.  A person may have some close calls, but when it's that person's time to go, he or she cannot escape the inevitable which is a part of the life cycle.  Thankfully and most graciously, in Christianity, the belief is that life will go on with the promise of eternal life promised to us by God who sent the Savior so that we may have eternal life.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
