This fine art counted cross stitch pattern entitled North-West Passage designed from a painting by John Everett Millais shows an elderly sailor sitting at his desk while his daughter is reading a log and coordinates depicting the struggle to find the North-West Passage and the drama that unfolds.  Outside the window is a ship seen sailing in a much calmer atmosphere.  Although there appears to be drama and intensity in the room which is telling from the grim look on the retired sailor's face, no such thing is taking place in the room, and it is only taking place in his mind and is only imagined.  The dutiful daughter quietly obliges her father and goes along with the enactment.   Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.
