This fine art counted cross stitch pattern, entitled Clematis, designed from a painting by Hubert von Herkomer, shows a portrait of a beautiful young woman with dark hair crowned with a wreath of leaves. Her large eyes are fathomless, leaving us to wonder what deep thoughts she is thinking. The artist created the painting using a method he invented called the Herkomergravure, which is essentially a hybrid method of engraving. The result is an art form that looks soft, and color-wise, it has a sepia appearance. It is beautiful indeed! Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
