This fine art counted cross stitch pattern, entitled Helios as Personification of Midday, designed from a painting by Anton Raphael Mengs, shows the Greek sun god soaring through a brilliant sky, his golden form framed by a radiant solar disc as he draws his bow. The artist wanted to emphasize the sun's overwhelming power and vitality at its zenith, capturing a sense of divine energy and heat. The colors used are a dazzling display of fiery oranges and molten golds that pop against the cool, turbulent teals and whites of the surrounding cloudscape. This pattern is for mythology and classical art lovers like myself who appreciate the bold symbolism of the heavens and the heroic, athletic grace found in Neoclassical masterpieces. The scene captured here is broken only by the whistling flight of a sun-tipped arrow.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
