This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Judith designed from a painting by August Riedel shows a determined heroine draped in a white blouse and a skirt richly embroidered with gold while gripping the hilt of a heavy sword. According to Catholic and Orthodox Bibles, Judith was a devout widow who exhibited immense bravery by saving the town of Bethulia from invasion. She accomplished this by seducing the leader of the Assyrian army and beheading him. When the city came under siege, it was Judith who stood tall and proud, rebuking the town leaders for underestimating the power of God. The Book of Judith has been removed from the Hebrew Bible due to a conflict of doctrine. In hindsight, she saved the Jewish people from harm. Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
