This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Modern Rome designed from a painting by Giovanni Paolo Panini shows an expansive, palatial gallery densely packed with framed views of Rome’s most famous landmarks and monuments. In creating this masterpiece, Panini wanted to celebrate the architectural glory of the city, no doubt finding endless inspiration in the sheer concentration of history and art surrounding him. The palette is a magnificent blend of rich crimson drapery and warm, golden-hued marbles, and a labyrinth of colors mixed in individual paintings and portraits.  It captures the scent of old oil paints and the quiet warmth of a grand estate. For stitchers like myself, it is peak beauty—a true "gallery within a gallery" to bring to life one stitch at a time.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
