This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Nanette Kaula, was designed from a painting by Joseph Karl Stieler.  Nanette Kaula (later Nanette Heine) was born in Munich in 1812, the daughter of the court agent and leader of Munich's Jewish community. Celebrated for her intelligence and charm, seventeen-year-old Nanette was painted by Joseph Karl Stieler in 1829 for King Ludwig I of Bavaria's renowned Gallery of Beauties at Nymphenburg Palace. She later married merchant Salomon Joseph Heine, a relative of the famous poet Heinrich Heine. This portrait of her shows a graceful young woman with dark curls wearing an off-the-shoulder velvet gown secured with a gold brooch against classic stone columns. She has a refined beauty that is to be appreciated.  Just imagine if you will the gentle scent of sweet jasmine and fresh rosewater drifting on a quiet morning breeze.  Every delicate highlight captures the serene poise of soft light across her gentle expression, making this regal portrait a true joy to stitch.  Our patterns use only full cross stitches. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
