This Scottish counted cross stitch pattern entitled Dryburgh Abbey, Scotland photographed by Sonya Kate Wilson shows the beautiful medieval ruins of Dryburgh Abbey which was founded in 1150.  The abbey is near the River Tweed in Scottish Borders.  It has been burned and restored several times in history, but by the 15th century it began to flourish.  Some well-known figures that are buried on the grounds are Sir Walker Scott and the Earl of Buchan.  If you notice, the sky is a crisp blue which accentuates the earthen colors of the abbey and the subtle grays of the rough-hewn dry stone walls used to define field boundaries.  No blended colors are used in our patterns.  We only use an abundance of solid colors as it produces a more realistic effect.  Only full cross stitches are used in our designs.
