The young girl in the painting is Saint Cecilia, a noble Roman maiden who lived in the early third century and became one of the most famous virgin martyrs of the early Christian church. Venerated as the patron saint of music and musicians, tradition holds that she sang in her heart to the Lord during her wedding. In this artwork, she is depicted during her youth in Tuscany, holding an early stringed instrument as her hair is arranged, symbolizing her lifelong connection to divine harmony and devotion. The colors in this scene are rich in earth tones with vibrant greens, browns, tans, blues, and mauve, etc. Our patterns use only full cross stitches. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
