This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled The Front Parlor designed from a painting by William MacGregor Paxton shows an elegant woman standing by a dark mantelpiece in a sun-drenched room, quietly reading a letter. In this scene, Paxton wanted to emphasize the serene, orderly beauty of a domestic interior, no doubt finding inspiration in the soft, diffused light filtering through a high-society home. The colors used are a delicate collection of creamy off-whites and soft rose pinks, beautifully anchored by the deep, polished wood tones of the furniture and the subtle floral patterns on the walls. The scene captures the atmospheric stillness of a morning in the parlor, where the glow of the lamp and the fresh bouquet of flowers create a feeling of timeless grace.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
