This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled The Snowball, Guilty or Not Guilty designed from a painting by Harold Piffard, shows a mischievous young boy whistling innocently with his hands buried deep in his pockets, standing on a snowy sidewalk next to a chestnut roaster while an irritated gentleman in a top hat looks back with snow on his collar. In this scene, the artist wanted to capture a humorous, storytelling snapshot of everyday Edwardian street life, finding inspiration in the playful antics of childhood and the humor of an unsuspecting gentleman. The colors used are a wonderful collection of brick reds, charcoal greys, and deep overcoat browns, beautifully contrasted against the crisp white snow and the warm, glowing embers of the brazier. This pattern is for those like myself who appreciate the masterly way an artist can build facial expressions and tension to tell a delightful story. The scene captures the frosty, atmospheric charm of a winter morning, where the boy's subtle side-eye and the gentleman's startled expression create a feeling of timeless, lighthearted fun.  Only full cross stitches are used in our patterns. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
