This fine art counted cross-stitch pattern entitled Therese Saxe Hildburghausen was designed from a painting by Joseph Karl Stieler. Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen, born in 1792, became Queen of Bavaria as the wife of King Ludwig I. Her grand 1810 royal wedding to Crown Prince Ludwig was the very event that inaugurated the famous annual Oktoberfest tradition. Admired for her political intellect and devotion to charitable works, she served as a capable royal consort and administrator. Court painter Joseph Karl Stieler captured her majesty in full coronation regalia, immortalizing her role at the center of Bavarian court life. This portrait shows the queen standing gracefully beside her throne wearing an ornate gold-embroidered gown and fur-trimmed mantle. Our patterns use only full cross stitches. No blended colors are used. Instead, we use a variety of solid colors to achieve a more realistic effect.
